Myrtle Beach Welcomes the 11th Annual Britfest

This past Saturday, the heart of Myrtle Beach was buzzing with excitement as folks from near and far gathered for the 11th Annual Britfest at the Market Common. The event, organized by the Grand Strand British Car Club, showcased an impressive array of British cars that made car lovers’ hearts race with joy.

Cars, Community, and Camaraderie

The scene was absolutely delightful! As the sun shone brightly down, attendees came from places like Charleston, Wilmington, and even beyond to admire the stunning vehicles brought by local enthusiasts. What a sight it was to see so many beautifully maintained classic British cars lined up, their polished exteriors glistening as onlookers strolled by, snapping photos and chatting about their favorites.

Bill Unger, the Vice President of the Grand Strand British Car Club, beamed with pride as he shared how this event has played a huge role in growing the club over the years. “When we first started the club, we were around 20-30 people,” he said. “Now we have 120 memberships, which means around 240 people involved!” It’s remarkable how the love for British cars continues to bring more people into the fold, especially with many new residents moving to the area from across the country. The passion for these cars is as contagious as the smiles on everyone’s faces.

Winners and Winners

A big highlight of the day was the award ceremony, where trophies were handed out to recognize the standout vehicles in various categories. Whether you were a fan of the sleek lines of a classic Jaguar or the charming aesthetic of a vintage Mini Cooper, there was plenty to appreciate. Each award captivated the attendees, cheering on their favorite cars while also celebrating the hard work owners put into their beloved rides.

The event wasn’t just about cars, though. A 50/50 raffle added an element of thrill, allowing attendees a chance to win some cash while supporting a great cause. All proceeds from the raffle and event activities were generously directed towards All Four Paws Animal Rescue and Gifts from the Heart. It’s always heartwarming to see communities come together not just for fun, but also to make a difference.

One for the Books

Britfest truly offered something for everyone, from car buffs and animal lovers to families looking for a vibrant community event. The vibe was warm and welcoming, with laughter and friendly chit-chat filling the air. And let’s not forget the incredible vendors who set up shop, offering delicious food and unique gifts that kept everyone happily munching and shopping throughout the day.

What an event! If you weren’t able to make it this year, don’t worry, as it’s clear that this beloved festival isn’t going anywhere. With its growth over the years and the excitement it garners, it looks like Britfest will only get bigger and better. So mark your calendars and start planning for next year – whether it’s bringing your own car or just coming to enjoy the car-filled day with friends and family. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for the next Britfest!
