CONWAY, S.C. — A wreck involving two vehicles closed every lane of Highway 501 Business in Conway on Sunday morning, Oct. 18, and left one person headed to a hospital.

The collision took place near the point where Highway 501 Business meets French Collins Road. Horry County Fire Rescue reported that its crews were sent out at 9:38 a.m.

Someone involved in the wreck needed hospital care, though fire rescue officials had not said how badly that person was hurt.

While crews worked the scene, officials urged motorists to stay clear of the area, both to dodge backups and to give responders room to work safely while the scene was cleared.

Troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol are handling the investigation into what caused the crash. No other details about the vehicles or the drivers involved had been released.
