AYNOR, S.C. — Three people went to the hospital after two cars collided on Highway 501 in Aynor, S.C., on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 24.

Horry County Fire Rescue was sent to the wreck near 8th Avenue at about 12:20 p.m. The crash shut down the Marion-bound side of Highway 501 while crews worked, and officials asked drivers to stay away so the scene could be cleared safely.

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is handling the investigation.

The same intersection has seen trouble before. On a Tuesday morning last November, a two-car crash near 8th Avenue on Highway 501 sent two people to the hospital and tied up traffic. Troopers, Aynor police and the Horry County Police Department looked into that one.
