MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Knights, vendors and festival food are coming back to Myrtle Beach, S.C., as the Mythical & Medieval Fest opens its 13th season over two weekends this month at RH Acres, 3833 Socastee Blvd.

Gates open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Nov. 7 and 8, then again Nov. 14 and 15. Organizers bill it as the only renaissance festival in Myrtle Beach.

Tickets can be bought online now, and the gate also sells them at the red ticket building, cash only. A VIP option adds preferred parking, two drink tokens for Amy’s Tavern, some vendor discounts, entry for both days of a weekend and a gift handed out at check in.

Every ticket supports Caleb’s Dragonfly Dreams, the Myrtle Beach nonprofit that stages the fair. The group plans outings and activities for children who were abused, abandoned or neglected and now live in shelters and group homes.

The charity began with a visit to the Horry County Shelter Home in 2008 and now works with children at three residential facilities in Horry and Georgetown counties. It says government funding for those homes barely covers clothing, food and staff, so trips such as water park days, pizza and movie nights and birthday presents depend on donors.
