The Myrtle Beach Downtown Alliance has recently announced a series of road closures in downtown Myrtle Beach that will kick off in early March. These are part of a much larger effort to enhance the city’s infrastructure and pedestrian safety, and they’ll last for about 90 days, depending on the weather. This means that as the marathon approaches, you might notice some detours and blockages around town.
The closures will include upgrades to streets, sidewalks, and utilities. Imagine walking around a friendlier, more appealing downtown Myrtle Beach soon! Although these changes may cause some temporary inconvenience, the ultimate goal is to create better public spaces and improve traffic flow.
Marathon Route Details
As for the marathon, the race routes will certainly be affected by these closures. Runners will take on a journey from The Market Common to Grande Dunes Boulevard and all the way along Ocean Boulevard to Robert M. Grissom Parkway. On race day, more than 3,000 barricades will be set up by the Myrtle Beach Parks Division to ensure that the runners have a clear path ahead.
