Farewell to a Local Legend: Cletus E. “Clete” Dubs Passes Away at 84

In the quaint city of Dover, the community is coming together to remember a beloved figure, Cletus E. “Clete” Dubs, who sadly passed away on July 20, 2025, at the age of 84. Clete took his last breath at the Pleasant Acres Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.

A Life Rooted in Community

Cletus was born on February 6, 1941, to the late Roy L. Dubs and Hattie R. (Cornbower) Dubs. A lifelong resident of the Hanover, Spring Grove, and Dover area, he made a significant impact on the lives around him. Many fondly remember his warm personality and dedication to family, which shone brightly during the annual family picnics and holiday gatherings he always looked forward to.

A Career Built on Hard Work

Clete had a hardworking spirit that defined his career. He retired in 2003 after working as a heavy equipment operator at Oldcastle Stone Products, known previously as Thomasville Stone and Lime Company. His colleagues and friends will remember his dedication and expertise, traits that resonated throughout his years in the workforce.

Passions that Brought Joy

Outside of work, Clete was a man of numerous hobbies that kept him active and engaged. Whether it was bowling, golfing, or traveling, Clete embraced life to the fullest. His love for adventure led him to memorable trips to Myrtle Beach, SC, the breathtaking landscapes of Gatlinburg, TN, and family fun in Branson, MO. Each journey left him with cherished memories and stories that he happily shared with those around him.

A Family Man

Cletus was known as much for his warm heart as for his adventurous spirit. He is survived by his loving companion of 38 years, Nancy Fuller, who was a constant source of support in his life. Together, they created a bond that many admired. Clete was a proud father to two sons, Tony Dubs and his wife Christine, living in Spring Grove, and Brian Dubs, who resides in the Philippines. His legacy continues through their families, including three beloved grandchildren: Zachariah Dubs, Siona Waugh, and Shantel Dubs.

Family and Friends Remember

The importance of family was a cornerstone of Clete’s life. He is also survived by a sister Shirley Altland, a brother Gerald Dubs, and numerous nieces and nephews who will carry his memory forward. Always by his side was his furry companion, Buddy, who provided comfort and joy during the quieter moments.

Clete was predeceased by his brother Floyd Dubs and sister Dorothy Lecrone, who he is now reunited with.

Final Farewell

The community will gather to honor Clete during a funeral service on July 28, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Beck Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Inc. in Spring Grove, PA. The service will be officiated by Rev. Jean Ward, Pastor of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Jefferson. Anyone wishing to pay their respects can attend a viewing from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM on the same day.

In Honor of Clete

In a fitting tribute to Clete’s kindness and compassion, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Dementia Society of America.
