Hello from Kent, Ohio!

Excitement is in the air as the Kent State men’s golf team has lifted the curtain on its highly anticipated schedule for the 2025-26 season! On August 19, 2025, it was officially announced that the Golden Flashes will be swinging into action with ten thrilling team events that promises to keep fans on the edge of their seats.

Getting Started on a Global Stage

The journey kicks off in style, with the team heading all the way to Mishima, Japan for the Pan Pacific University Golf Super League. This first tournament is set from September 3-5, 2025, making it an exciting international venture right out of the gate. Following their global debut, the team will make its way to the Canadian Collegiate from September 14-16, 2025, welcoming opportunities to compete against some of the best talent across North America.

But wait, there’s more! The Golden Flashes will make their return to the United States for the first time at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, which will be played at Blessings Golf Club in Fayetteville, Arkansas from September 29 to October 1, 2025. It’s only the beginning of a busy and rewarding autumn season.

Fall Events to Watch

As the leaves turn and the weather cools, the Kent State team will stay warm with competitive events lined up. They’ll take part in the Fighting Irish Collegiate at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Indiana on October 6-7, 2025, followed by the Cal Poly Invitational at Preserve Golf Club in Monterey, California on October 27-28, 2025. These gatherings not only add to the team’s experience but also let them showcase their growing talent.

Spring Season Excitement

After a well-deserved break, the team will kick off its Spring season on February 16-17, 2026, at the Hal Williams Intercollegiate in Mobile, Alabama. Fans can look forward to ongoing thrilling competitions as they participate in the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from March 15-17, 2026. This marks the team’s 14th consecutive year at this renowned event, showcasing their enduring presence in college golf.

A notable mention comes with the Hootie at Bulls Bay in Awendaw, South Carolina, where the Flashes will make their ninth consecutive appearance from March 22-24, 2026. Following that, they set their sights on the Robert Kepler Invitational at OSU Golf Club in Columbus, Ohio on April 11-12, 2026, proudly celebrating their 12th year of action at this event.

Aiming for Glory

The season will culminate in the much-anticipated MAC Championship, scheduled to be held at Holiday Farms in Zionsville, Indiana from May 3-5, 2026. The Golden Flashes have their eyes set high, aiming for a second consecutive NCAA tournament appearance after a record-breaking 2024-25 season that saw them snag their 29th MAC Championship title and feature outstanding players, including multiple All-MAC selections.

The previous year was filled with thrilling performances, including six top-five finishes and four top-three finishes. A special shoutout goes to Jordan Gilkison, who earned accolades like MAC Golfer of the Year. On top of the competitive edge, the team is home to three Academic All-MAC selections: Edvin Backstrom, Jordan Gilkison, and Bryce Reed, proving that they excel both in their sport and academically.

Onward and Upward!

With a fantastic blend of international competitions and prestigious U.S. tournaments, the Kent State men’s golf team is all set to build on its remarkable success as they take on the 2025-26 season. Fans will surely want to keep an eye on these incredible athletes as they strive for another championship and—hopefully—a place at the NCAA tournament once again!
