If you’re a fan of golf or simply love to explore beautiful landscapes, get ready for some exciting news coming out of Atlantic Canada! Recent developments are putting the spotlight on 11 remarkable golf courses across four provinces, and it’s all part of a collaborative effort to promote golf tourism in this stunning region.

Top Courses to Hook Golf Enthusiasts

Thanks to a recent ranking by SCOREGolf, it turns out that Atlantic Canada is home to some of the best public golf courses in the entire country. In fact, 11 of these gems made the Top 59 list, with a whopping four courses even breaking into the top 10!

  • Cabot Cliffs in Inverness, N.S. tops the charts at number one!
  • Cabot Links, also in Inverness, follows closely at number two.
  • Highlands Links in Ingonish Beach takes the fifth spot.
  • Humber Valley in Deer Lake rounds up the top 10 at number nine.

It’s not just about those top spots, as other courses are making a mark too. The Algonquin in St. Andrews, N.B. has improved its ranking remarkably, jumping up from 20th to 13th. Meanwhile, Northumberland Links in Nova Scotia has made an impressive leap from 42nd to 26th, and it’s still undergoing renovations!

P.E.I. Shines with Three Ranked Courses

Prince Edward Island is also putting its best foot forward with three ranked courses. Here’s how they stack up:

  • The Links at Crowbush Cove shines at 16.
  • Dundarave holds strong at 34.
  • Green Gables has jumped marvellously from 53rd to 40th!

What’s All This Buzz About a Golf Trail?

You might be wondering, what exactly is a golf trail? Well, a golf trail is basically a fantastic way for multiple golf courses in a region to work together to promote golf tourism. Think of it as a shared marketing effort that highlights the unique experiences and breathtaking landscapes that each course has to offer.

Atlantic Canada is gearing up to create its very own multi-province Golf Trail, with some already well-established golf trails paving the way. Some notable golf trails from other regions include the Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Golf Trail in Alabama, the Myrtle Beach Golf Trail in South Carolina, and even the awe-inspiring Old Tom Morris Golf Trail in Scotland, which was established just last year!

Curious about which courses might make it onto the Atlantic Canada Golf Trail? Here are some of the proposed courses, showcasing the breadth of golfing options:

  • Links at Kingswood Park in Fredericton, N.B.
  • Mactaquac Provincial Park Golf Club in Fredericton, N.B.

This diverse collection of courses, designed by renowned architects like Donald Ross and Ben Crenshaw, is sure to create breathtaking golfing experiences.

Stunning Scenery and Local Delights

Aside from golfing, visitors can revel in the spectacular vistas of the Cabot Trail and the picturesque scenery of P.E.I. Not to mention, local accommodations promise to treat guests with delicious seafood and craft beer to refuel after a long day on the greens.

Future Developments

Exciting things are on the horizon, including a new golf course in Collingwood, N.S., and renovations at Gowan Brae Golf Club in Bathurst, N.B. These enhancements aim to elevate the golfing experience even further.

For the Atlantic Canada Golf Trail to flourish, it will require a collaborative effort. Golf courses, local accommodations, food, beverage partners, and government support will need to come together to make this ambitious vision a reality. Here’s hoping that Atlantic Canada soon becomes the must-visit destination for golfers from near and far!
