With 16 teams competing, including tough contenders from Virginia Commonwealth University and Clemson University, golf fans are looking forward to the exciting rounds. Under the guidance of Head Coach Andrew Danna, FGCU aims to build on their successful previous season, where they reached the NCAA regional championships.

Myrtle Beach Gears Up for FGCU Men’s Golf Season Kickoff

As the scenic sun rises over Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, excitement fills the air as the Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) men’s golf team sets to tee off their 2025-26 season. The tournament, called the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, promises to showcase some thrilling golf starting on Sunday, September 7, 2025.

All Eyes on Grande Dunes Golf Club

This year, FGCU will compete at the Grande Dunes Golf Club, a stunning par 72 course stretching over 7,279 yards. Golf aficionados and casual fans alike can look forward to watching live results from the day’s rounds through the convenient Scoreboard service, making it easier than ever to follow the Eagles as they hit the greens.

Team Lineup and Competition

FGCU will not be alone on the course, as 16 teams have signed up to battle it out for top honors. The competition includes some tough contenders such as Virginia Commonwealth University, University of Maryland, and Clemson University, all set to take on the challenges posed by the Grande Dunes. Other participating teams are Florida Atlantic University, Charleston Southern, East Carolina University, Texas State, Old Dominion University, High Point University, Jacksonville University, Appalachian State, Elon University, Coastal Carolina, Campbell University, and Kennesaw State University.

Coach Danna’s Vision

Leading the charge for FGCU is Head Coach Andrew Danna, now entering his seventh season with the team. Under his guidance, the Eagles have experienced remarkable success, including an impressive achievement during the 2024–25 season, where they earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Amherst Regional. This made it only the second time in the history of the program that FGCU advanced to postseason play.

Record-Breaking Performance

The previous season was memorable, as FGCU finished 11th in the NCAA regional, with standout performance by senior Tom Scullion, who tied for 20th place overall. The Eagles also shattered records with a program-low scoring average of 284.9 strokes. With all this momentum, there’s no doubt that FGCU men’s golf is poised for another successful run this year.

What’s Next?

After the excitement of the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, the Eagles will set their sights on the Jim Delapa Intercollegiate, hosted by Central Michigan University in Benton Harbor, Michigan. This is just one of many tournaments lined up for the team, and fans are eagerly anticipating how the Eagles will perform throughout the season.

So grab your clubs and get ready for an exciting weekend as FGCU tees off to kick off their season at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate. Who knows, you might just witness the beginning of another fantastic journey for FGCU men’s golf!
