David was born on November 23, 1965, in Wichita, Kansas, and spent his childhood in various locations due to his father’s service in the United States Air Force. From the streets of Alexandria, Louisiana to Columbus, Ohio, young David experienced life in different settings before his family settled down in Greenville, Illinois in 1977. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1984, where friendships blossomed and the nickname “Fuzz” stuck with him among friends and family.
Farming and the Great Outdoors
Fuzz had a true love for farming, often cherishing moments spent on the family farm with his Grandpa Clyde Huber. This connection to the land shaped his life, leading him into various jobs that allowed him to enjoy nature. David’s career took him to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, where he worked in maintenance at the Sea Gull Golf Course and later to Tennessee at country artist Gretchen Wilson’s Ranch. Eventually, David found his way back to Bond County, where his roots truly blossomed.
Beloved Family and Community Member
In the community, Fuzz was more than just a farmer; he was a proud member of the Rod and Gun Club in Greenville, where he shared his love for the outdoors with other enthusiasts. His friendly demeanor and steadfast friendships left a lasting impact on those around him. He is survived by his mother, Elaine, his brother Dale (Jo) Branscome, and two nephews, Kort Kirby (Liz) Branscome and Kaleb Michael Branscome. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred “Kirby” Branscome.
A Warm Farewell
As the community comes together to celebrate David’s life, graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 5, 2025, at Brown Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to honor his memory and remember the joy he brought to so many. Arrangements for the services will be handled by Donnell – Wiegand Funeral Home.
