Get Ready for Ed’s Hurricane Hustle & Expo in Conway

CONWAY, S.C. — As Memorial Day weekend approaches, excitement is building for the annual Ed’s Hurricane Hustle, set to take place on June 1, 2024, at Coastal Carolina University. This eagerly anticipated event invites the community, including furry friends, to participate in a 5K race or a one-mile fun run, all aimed at promoting hurricane preparedness.

Event Details

The day kicks off early with the 5K race starting at 8:00 AM, followed closely by the one-mile run at 8:10 AM. Participants are encouraged to arrive at Brooks Stadium where both races will commence. Those interested in joining can still secure their spot by registering online, with fees set to increase after May 30th.

Packet Pick-Up Information

Race packets, crucial for all participants, are available for pick-up on the day before the race from 4 PM to 7 PM at Black Dog Running Company located at The Market Common. For added convenience, packets can also be collected on race morning from 7 AM to 7:45 AM at the stadium.

Parking and Accessibility

Participants and spectators can park at the designated GG and KK lots on campus. Accessible parking in the GG lot faces Highway 501, while the KK lot is conveniently located behind Lackey Chapel.

Race Route Highlights

The highly anticipated finish line is the Teal Turf inside Brooks Stadium, providing a vibrant backdrop for photo ops and celebration as racers cross the finish line. The scenic route ensures an enjoyable experience for runners and walkers of all ages and abilities.

Post-Run Activities: Hurricane Expo

Following the race, the event will host a Hurricane Expo open to all attendees. This expo will feature presentations by government agencies, non-profit organizations, and local vendors all expert in aspects of hurricane preparedness, response, and recovery. Chief Meteorologist Ed Piotrowski will grace the occasion with a special speech on the 2024 hurricane season forecast, offering insights into historical storm impacts on the area.
