Jeff Duncan, the incumbent GOP Rep., decided not to run for the seat after serving seven terms. “At some point in a career, one needs to step aside and allow others to bring fresh ideas and abilities into the fight for liberty,” he said in a statement back in January. Who’s up in the Democratic Camp?

Meanwhile, Bryon Best, a manager at a Sherwin Williams paint store, won the Democratic Party’s nomination to represent the district, defeating Frances Guldner, a high school science teacher, by over 2,050 votes. A Democrat has yet to win the district since Lindsey Graham flipped the seat in 1994.
