11-Year-Old Girl Drowns at North Myrtle Beach Resort Pool While Vacationing from Georgia

On a tragic weekend at North Myrtle Beach, a young girl vacationing from Georgia has passed away after being pulled from a resort pool. The news has been confirmed by the Horry County Coroner’s Office, stating that the 11-year-old victim drowned at The Links Resort in the North Strand on Saturday.

Details of the Tragic Incident

Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard informed HERE News Network that the 11-year-old child was found and extracted from a hotel pool at The Links Resort. Following the incident, the young girl was swiftly transported to the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. Despite the immediate medical intervention, she, unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries and passed away on Tuesday morning.

The victim, along with her family, was on a vacation trip from their home in Lawrenceville, Georgia. At this stage, no further details about the incident have been released. The coroner’s office and the North Myrtle Beach Police Department are conducting further investigations into the incident.

Addressing Water Safety

In light of this tragic event, authorities urge parents to observe water safety regulations and to be vigilant at all times when their children are near water bodies. While resorts often provide a relaxed and recreational atmosphere, parents are reminded about the possible risks associated with water-related activities.

Drowning incidents can occur quickly and often without any warning signs. Hence, it is crucial to ensure that children are not left unsupervised near any water body, especially swimming pools. Additionally, even if swimming pools have lifeguards present, the responsibility of children’s safety predominantly resides with their guardians.

Community Reacts to the Tragedy

The tragic incident has elicited profound sadness within the North Myrtle Beach community, particularly among those who frequent and reside in The Links Resort. Thoughts and prayers from the community are being extended to the grieving family.

The tragic loss of this young girl has prompted discussions within the community on the critical importance of water safety awareness, especially among children. Community members are calling for stronger and more effective measures to guarantee the safety of children in resort pools, thereby preventing such incidents from happening in the future.

Rigorous safety checks, efficient lifeguarding, and safety awareness programs are being advocated for in the wake of this tragic event. The safety and well-being of each community member, particularly the most vulnerable, remain the community’s highest priority.

HERE News Network extends its deepest condolences to the family of the victim and stands with the North Myrtle Beach community during these challenging times.
