South Carolina Man Apprehended After Biting Police Officer

In a shocking event, a man wanted in South Carolina bit a police officer while attempting to resist arrest. A disturbing altercation ensued as the suspect, dubbed Marty Benjamin Miller, reportedly pulled out a firearm during the struggle.

The Incident

The incident took place in the Nicholtown community, Greenville, South Carolina, as an on-duty officer identified Miller driving down the road. Upon seeing the officer, Miller made his way to a house on McCullough Street. It was here that the police officer approached Miller and attempted to make an arrest.
But Miller had other plans.

Ignoring the commands of the officer, Miller tried to flee in his vehicle. A backup officer arrived for support and both officers worked to keep Miller from escaping. The struggle intensified when Miller, in an attempt to resist arrest, brandished a firearm. Luckily, the police quickly disarmed Miller, ensuring that no shots were fired.

However, in a gruesome turn of events, Miller bit one of the officers during the altercation. The severity of the bite resulted in the deployment of a K9 officer, significantly escalating the situation. The K9 officer is reported to have bitten Miller in turn.

Aftermath of the Incident

Following the harrowing encounter, Miller was successfully taken into custody, before being transported to the hospital for medical treatment. His bail is set at $20,000.

Both officers involved in the arrest were also taken to the hospital. The full extent of their injuries is not yet known, although it is evident that the officer bitten by Miller suffered considerable pain.

The Charges and Legal Battle

Prior to this incident, Miller was already wanted for shoplifting, failure to stop for the police, and texting while driving. But he will now face even more serious charges due to this recent event.

In addition to his existing charges, Miller is expected to face charges related to resisting arrest with assault on a police officer, resisting arrest with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a violent felon, and interfering with law enforcement officers.
