13-Year-Old Tragically Dies in Myrtle Beach-area Shooting Incident
In a devastating incident over the Labor Day weekend, a 13-year-old boy was shot and killed in a neighborhood just outside of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The deceased has been identified as Jaiden Smalls, according to Michelle McSpadden, Deputy Coroner of Horry County.
The incident occurred on Terrace View Court in the early hours of Sunday. Details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting remain undisclosed as the Horry County Police Department (HCPD) continues its investigation.
Tragic Incident under Investigation
The Horry County Police Department was on the scene at around 12:41 in the morning on Sunday. A police report obtained suggests that the initial responding officer was soon followed by other officers and investigators who continued to study the incident scene.
Details regarding the lead up to the shooting are not yet clear, and the HCPD has not been able to provide further clarification as of Tuesday evening. While the HCPD’s investigation is ongoing, the Department has described the incident as an “isolated occurrence involving juvenile residents in the same household.” They assure there is no ongoing risk to the wider community.
