Myrtle Beach Remembers 9/11: A Day of Honor and Reflection
This past Wednesday, the lovely coastal city of Myrtle Beach took a heartfelt moment to remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. Eric Rice, a 9/11 first responder, voiced this sentiment, noting, “One thing that concerns me is that children growing up today aren’t going to know much about it.” However, the Myrtle Beach Fire Department is making a valiant effort to keep the memory alive. By involving junior firefighters in events like the stair climb, they ensure that the significance of 9/11 reaches those who will one day serve their communities.
“Especially now as they’re getting into their firefighting career, they now know what we endured when we lost our first responders on 9/11,” Jim Alercia pointed out, underlining the importance of this shared experience.
