Myrtle Beach Invites Volunteers for 36th Annual Beach and River Sweep This Weekend

Beach Cleanup Volunteers

Myrtle Beach – Join the Beach and River Sweep This Weekend!

Hey, Myrtle Beach friends! This weekend is a big deal for our beautiful state. That’s right, it’s the 36th annual Beach and River Sweep, and it’s all about coming together to keep our stunning beaches, rivers, lakes, and wetlands clean and trash-free! Can we give each other a round of applause for caring about our environment?

What’s Going Down?

This Saturday, volunteers across South Carolina will be grabbing their gloves and trash bags to pick up litter, and you’re invited to join in! One of the best ways to give back to our community is by doing something super fun like picking up trash while soaking up the rays on our local beaches. Sounds like a win-win, right?

Surfside Beach Cleanup

Surfside Beach is one of the fantastic spots where you can be a part of this state-wide effort. The cleanup is happening from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Surfside Beach Holiday Inn. Ellen Delaplane from Keep Surfside Beach Beautiful says, “We always host a local sweep right here in Surfside Beach so that all of our residents and folks that live in and around Surfside Beach have an opportunity to come out and be part of this state-wide effort.” We couldn’t agree more!

What to Expect?

If you’re worried about getting your hands dirty, don’t be! Bags and gloves will be provided for all participants, so all you need to bring is your lovely self and maybe some sunscreen. Oh, and did we mention? There will be complimentary coffee and refreshments to keep you energized. Who doesn’t love a good cup of joe after a little hard work?

A Little Extra – Charity Support

As if that wasn’t exciting enough, Surfside Beach is also hosting a special container to collect cans. These will be donated to the Surfside Beach Fire Department for the South Carolina Firefighters Burned Children’s Fund. So you can do good while you’re feeling good! Every little bit helps, and we appreciate all the support our community provides.

Where Else Can You Help?

Don’t worry if you can’t make it to Surfside Beach! There are cleanups happening in lots of places around the area, including Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, Conway, and even Florence. Grab your friends and family, and head to your nearest location. Together, we can make a huge difference in keeping our waterways clean!

So, What Are You Waiting For?

Grab those sunscreen, throw on some comfy clothes, and join us this Saturday for the Beach and River Sweep. It’s not just about keeping our home clean; it’s about creating a beautiful environment for residents and visitors alike. Plus, it’s a great way to meet like-minded people who love their beaches and rivers just as much as you do!

Let’s show some love for Myrtle Beach and the surrounding areas by participating in this clean-up. See you there, and don’t forget your energy and your smiles!
