Myrtle Beach’s Own Gail Bliss Shines Bright on The Voice
Hey Myrtle Beach! Grab your popcorn because we have some exciting news to share! Our very own Gail Bliss from Little River is stealing the spotlight on The Voice. This talented lady just brought the house down with her rendition of The SteelDrivers’ “If It Hadn’t Been For Love,” and you won’t believe who was moved to give her a “coach replay” — none other than Snoop Dogg himself!
Performance That Wowed the Crowd
During her audition, Gail’s soulful performance had both the audience and the coaches captivated. Snoop Dogg couldn’t help but express his admiration for her presence. “I love to see those tears of joy,” he said, gushing over her talent. “She has stage presence, and then she had a look about herself that looked like she was a damn superstar.” Talk about a major compliment!
At the vibrant age of 61, Gail holds the title for being the oldest contestant to date, but she’s not letting age define her. With nearly 40 years of professional singing experience under her belt, including gigs all over the country and even north of the border in Canada, she’s here to show everyone she’s got what it takes!
A Message of Inspiration
When chatting with Gail, she emphasized her desire to inspire others. “I try to inspire anyone that’s still got a dream left to dream,” she said. “Keep yourself healthy and do the best you can to inspire your mind and keep having fun and keep living.” Gail is all about reminding us that at any age, “we are not done yet!”
The Season’s Coaches
This season, the show’s coaches include powerhouse names like Gwen Stefani, Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, and of course, Snoop Dogg. Interestingly, Gail believed Reba would be a natural fit for her due to her country background. But guess what? She’s ecstatic to be on Team Snoop Dogg! “That would have been almost too much of what was to be expected,” Gail shared. “Here I get to be the oldest person paired with the most unlikely coach for me.” And just wait until you hear what she did next—she gave Snoop a sweet kiss on the cheek! “I’d do it again. He’s been phenomenal.”
A Journey Through Music
Gail’s journey through music is nothing short of inspiring. Her wide-ranging genres — from country to western swing, blues to jazz — showcase her incredible versatility. She has released numerous albums and has even portrayed music legends like the beloved Patsy Cline in a national tour! You name it, she’s done it — including an appearance in the Broadway musical “Ring of Fire” that was all about Johnny Cash! This lady has the magic.
Catch Gail Live
And here’s some news to celebrate: fans back home in Little River will also get a chance to see Gail live! She debuted her fun-filled country show, Gail Bliss and the Nashville Barn Dance, last year and has plans for another show at the Greg Rowles Legacy Theatre in North Myrtle Beach next February. “I’m hoping to have some very, very special guests that people are going to recognize very soon,” she said. “So I hope that we pack that house and just have another great evening together.” Love it!
