Tragic Traffic Wrecks in Myrtle Beach Area Claim Two Lives

MYRTLE BEACH — Just when we thought the sunshine and breeze would make for a perfect day, tragedy struck on the roads recently, leaving our community in mourning. On **October 19**, reports came in about two separate traffic accidents in Horry and Georgetown counties that sadly resulted in the loss of two lives.

First Crash near Georgetown

The first accident took place just after **midnight** on **Dunbar Road** near **Rose Hill Road**, around 12 miles north of Georgetown. According to sources from the S.C. Highway Patrol, a **2018 Honda Civic** was cruising south when it collided head-on with a **2000 Nissan Maxima** that was headed in the opposite direction. The details are still emerging, but tragically, the driver of the Civic was transported by EMS to **Tidelands Georgetown Memorial Hospital**, where he was pronounced dead.

The Georgetown County Coroner’s Office has yet to release the name of the deceased, leaving friends and family anxiously waiting for answers and closure during this difficult time. Meanwhile, the driver of the Maxima was taken to **Grand Strand Medical Center** in Myrtle Beach, but details about their condition have not been disclosed. It’s just such a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved.

Second Crash in Horry County

The second wreck occurred just before **5:45 a.m.** on **U.S. Highway 701 South** near **Marine Park Road** in the Bucksport area. It was there that **Danecia Greene**, a 32-year-old resident of Georgetown, was driving her **2015 Infinity SUV** when, sadly, her vehicle drifted off the right side of the road and crashed into a tree.

According to the Horry County Coroner’s Office, Danecia died at the scene, which is just devastating news for her loved ones. Every life lost on our roads affects our community, and we can only imagine the impact this loss has on her family and friends.

Community Safety and Care

Traffic accidents like these serve as a solemn reminder to us all about the importance of road safety. With the mix of relatively good weather showing sunshine and some clouds — with temps hitting a pleasant **78°F** on the horizon, and winds softening from **NNE at 5 to 10 mph** — it’s vital to stay alert and considerate while driving. Life in Myrtle Beach, known for its beautiful coastline and friendly community, deserves care and caution on our roads.

As we continue to keep both families in our thoughts during this incredibly tough time, it’s a reminder for everyone to cherish their loved ones and always drive safely. With every mile we share, let’s look out for one another.

Stay Updated

We will be keeping a close watch on any updates regarding these incidents. As details continue to unfold, we are reminded of the fragility of life and the importance of community.
