Myrtle Beach Hosts a Heartfelt Pig Roast for Veterans
This past Saturday, Myrtle Beach was buzzing with excitement as hundreds of veterans and community members came together for an afternoon filled with delicious food and camaraderie. The vibe was warm and welcoming at the Myrtle Beach Moose Lodge on Burcale Road, where the Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina hosted their big yearly fundraiser—a pig roast and homemade barbecue extravaganza!
A Community Celebration
Attendees were treated to an all-you-can-eat feast for just $17! Talk about a deal! With every wristband, folks got to dive into a plethora of mouth-watering dishes, all while supporting an amazing cause. The best part? All the food was generously donated, ensuring that every penny raised would go directly to supporting mothers of children who are serving in the armed forces. You can’t help but feel good about that!
Fun and Prizes
The event was more than just great food; it was a chance to win some fantastic prizes too! Local businesses pitched in with about 40 door prizes, making it a fun-filled day for everyone. With an amazing turnout, last year’s event brought in around $12,000, a figure that the team hopes to beat this year!
Words from the President
Carol Dion, the president of the local Blue Star Mothers branch, expressed her gratitude and excitement. “This is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and it really does make a difference,” she shared with a smile. It’s clear that the community’s support means the world to them, and they were incredibly grateful for everyone who came out to enjoy the day.
Looking Ahead
But wait, there’s more! Mark your calendars, because the Blue Star Mothers have some thrilling events on the horizon. After four long years of patience and persistence, Mission BBQ has finally secured a Wreaths Across America mobile education truck! This fantastic resource will be parked at its North Myrtle Beach location on November 12th, open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. It’s a fantastic opportunity to learn more about this important cause that honors our nation’s veterans.
On top of that exciting news, there’s a wreath-laying ceremony happening on December 14th at the Florence National Cemetery. Here’s a chance for everyone to come together in remembrance and honor of our heroes. If you’re looking to sponsor a wreath, be sure to check it out!
A Big Thank You
Events like these remind us of the incredible spirit of Myrtle Beach. It’s truly heartwarming when the community pulls together for a good cause, especially to support our veterans and their families. If you missed this pig roast, no worries! There will be plenty more opportunities to get involved and show your support.
So whether you enjoyed the festivities, participated in the prize drawings, or just soaked up the community spirit, it’s a good time to reflect on how we can all contribute to such meaningful causes. Let’s keep this momentum going, Myrtle Beach! You’re full of heart, and that’s what makes this place so special.
