A Chance to Share and Reflect

Remembering a Life Well Lived

David Giauque was born on May 9, 1958, in Millersburg, Ohio, to Benjamin Franklin Giauque Jr. and Judith (Joy) Giauque. He married his beloved wife, Barbara Mohler, on March 31, 1978. Tragically, Barbara passed away on July 6, 2018, leaving a profound impact on Hinky’s life.

Hinky was a dedicated truck driver for over 50 years, finally hanging up his keys in October 2024. His work ethic was unmatched, and he was known for always being busy – whether it was fixing something around the house or diving into a new project. Beyond his work life, David found joy in outdoor activities, including hunting, softball, racing, and of course, golfing. Annual trips to Myrtle Beach with friends for golf were always highly anticipated highlights of his year.

A Community Hero

Not one to shy away from service, Hinky was also a volunteer firefighter for the Killbuck and Richland Township communities for many years. His contributions to the safety of the community exemplified his caring nature and deep commitment to helping others.

Family Legacy

Hinky’s legacy continues through his two sons, Benjamin (Kristen) Giauque and Brian (Bobbi) Giauque, as well as his cherished grandchildren: Landon, Emma, and Ava Giauque, Brittany (Nick) Phillips, Joseph (Trinity) Beckett, and Steven Giauque. He was also a proud great-grandfather to four great-grandchildren, with two more on the way, ensuring that his love and values will carry on through generations.

David is survived by his loving mother, Judith Wilson, and his siblings: Sharon Gilley, Karen (Chris) Nienhuis, Pam (Tim) Conn, Darletta Giauque, and Debbie (Nate) Bell. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, including his brother-in-law William Mohler.

Final Thoughts

While mourned deeply, Hinky’s spirit and memories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. For those wishing to commemorate his life, the family suggests contributions to the West Holmes FFA in lieu of flowers, furthering his legacy of support for the community and youth.

Online condolences can be shared with the family at www.alexanderfhinc.com. As Brinkhaven grapples with the loss of a remarkable character, everyone is reminded of the importance of community, love, and cherished memories.
