She completed her education at Winter Park High School in Winter Park, Florida, before attending Queens College in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she met her future husband, Travis C. Cork III. The couple married in 1964 and initially made their home in various locations including Clemson, Walterboro, Atlanta, and Bennettsville before settling in Conway for the past 51 years.

In Conway, Sigrid worked as a homemaker and managed Darden’s Jewelers on Main Street, showcasing her strong work ethic and commitment to her community.
