Conway Celebrates International Talk Like a Pirate Day with a Haunted Twist!

Ahoy, Conway! If you missed out on the fun, you’ll be thrilled to know that the city went all-in for International Talk Like a Pirate Day this past Thursday! That’s right, mateys! The good folks at the Conway Marina have unveiled a brand-new haunted pirate ship just in time for the spooky season!

A Pirate Ship in the Harbor

As local pirate enthusiasts gathered at the marina, Mayor Barbara Blain-Bellamy strolled up in classic pirate attire, proving that she knows how to get into the spirit of things! She kicked off the festivities by reading a proclamation stating that the city would be transformed into a true Halloween haven once again this year. “This is the place to celebrate all things Halloween,” she declared enthusiastically, adding, “We’ve got witches, goblins, ghosts, and skeletons—everything your heart can desire! So please come to downtown Conway and enjoy Halloween, South Carolina! Arghh!”

Everybody cheered, showing their excitement for all the ghoulish fun to come. The mayor didn’t stop there. She also took part in an epic pirate tradition by breaking a bottle of champagne on the ship’s side—though we’re pretty sure there was a wave of nervous giggles when she did that, just in case the spirits didn’t like it!
