Before he became the head pro at Gannon, Sibley had a colorful career, having previously served at esteemed places like the Wild Wing Plantation in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and the Pinehurst Resort in North Carolina. His expertise extended to several other respected golf facilities, including The Cohasset Golf Club, The Harmon Club, Wentworth Hills, Ipswich Country Club, and Beverly Golf & Tennis Club. He received accolades not only for his management but also for his operations, merchandising, and event planning.

In recognition of his substantial contributions to the game and the community, he was named the 2025 Golf Professional of the Year by the Massachusetts Chapter of the New England PGA. A Memorial Mass has been scheduled for Friday, November 14, 2025, at St. Pius V Church in Lynn, with visiting hours preceding the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the David Sibley Memorial Fund or the Junior Golf Program at Gannon Golf Course.
