Exciting Expansion Announced for North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex

Exciting Changes Coming to North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex!

North Myrtle Beach, S.C. has some thrilling news for sports lovers and families alike! The community sports complex is getting a major facelift, making it the go-to spot for activities and fun. Can you believe it? They’re adding 11 new playing fields plus a whopping 96 acres to the already impressive 162-acre facility!

What’s in Store?

Currently, the complex caters to a variety of sports including baseball, soccer, and football, but it’s about to get even better. With the new construction plans, there will be five brand new soccer fields, six baseball and softball diamonds, modern playgrounds, and scenic walking trails. There’s truly something for everyone!

As parks and recreation director Matt Gibbons mentioned, “We do so much on them. We play flag football, we play lacrosse, we play ultimate frisbee.” This addition of multi-purpose fields means that no matter the season, there will always be a place to play your favorite sport.

Community Feedback Sparks Change

Here’s a fun tidbit: the city has been eyeing this expansion for quite some time! It all started with the feedback from tournament directors and local visitors who noticed that the existing facilities were pretty much at capacity. As North Myrtle Beach continues to grow, locals were clamoring for more options. Gibbons confirmed, “They were really asking for more fields.”

Construction Update

So, here’s the scoop: construction on this exciting $38 million project kicked off back in May, and the team is working hard to get everything ready by Labor Day! That’s right, by next summer, you could be enjoying all of this fantastic new space.

As Gibbons pointed out, “We had so much success with the original park that a lot of our events, a lot of our tournaments, a lot of our local leagues had already filled up what we had.” This expansion is a beautiful response to the needs of our ever-growing community, ensuring there’s always room for everyone to play!

More Fun During the Holidays

And let’s not forget—once the construction wraps up, the city plans to double the size and capacity of the famous North Myrtle Beach Christmas Light Show! Imagine strolling through an even more dazzling display of lights with friends and family. That’s definitely something to look forward to during the holiday season!

Join In the Excitement!

The city of North Myrtle Beach is buzzing with excitement over these developments. Expanding the sports complex not only meets demand but also enriches the community’s recreational opportunities. So, whether you’re a player, a parent, or just someone who enjoys lively community events, keep an eye out for all the new and fun happenings in our very own backyard!

Stay tuned for more updates as we approach construction milestones, and get ready to dive into a whole new level of playground fun, sports events, and double the holiday lights. North Myrtle Beach is taking things to the next level, and we can’t wait to see it all come together!
