But on Christmas night, things took a troubling turn when a family dispute escalated into violence, resulting in three people being shot and another being stabbed.

The chaos erupted around 9:45 p.m. at a restaurant in Terminal 4, which is outside the airport’s security perimeter. Authorities responded quickly to the scene after reports of the gunfire. According to Phoenix police Sergeant Mayra Reeson, they found three individuals suffering from gunshot wounds and one person with a stab wound.

Sgt. Reeson shared some insights during a news briefing on Thursday morning, explaining that the incident appeared to be a family feud that had really heated up. “I believe this was a family dispute that escalated,” she said, adding that all five individuals involved seemingly knew each other. As officers worked diligently to manage the situation, they were able to detain a juvenile girl and an adult male in the parking garage nearby. Police confirmed that they have recovered weapons from the scene but have yet to file any charges while they conduct their investigation. “We do not believe that there’s any suspects out there,” said Sgt. Reeson, easing some concerns for the public.
