Florida Gators Women’s Golf Sets New Program Record in Home Invitational Opener

What a day it was for the No. 7 Florida women’s golf team as they kicked off their Gators Invitational on March 6, 2026, in style! The talented team made history by achieving a remarkable team score of 271 (-9) during the opening round at the Mark Bostick Golf Course. This fantastic performance not only put the Gators in the lead but also set a new program record for a single round of play!

Standout Performances and Current Standings

The Gators’ incredible 9-under-par score exceeded the previous record of 273, which was recorded earlier in the season at the Cougar Classic. Standing out among the pack was sophomore sensation Siuue Wu, who dazzled everyone with a stellar round of 65 (-5). This phenomenal score ties her for the second-lowest individual round in the program’s history. Wu’s round was full of excitement, featuring a tournament-leading seven birdies, and she certainly set the tone for the Gators today.

Freshman Katelyn Huber also made her mark, contributing a solid 67 (-3) that positioned her tied for second individually. Not to be outdone, Paula Francisco finished strong with a 68 (-2), placing her in a tie for fourth. It’s fantastic to see that the Gators occupy three of the top four spots on the individual leaderboard after just one round!

Team Leaderboard After Round One

As the day came to a close, the Gators found themselves in a nice four-stroke lead over their closest competitor, Virginia, who scored 275 (-5). North Carolina trails in third place with a score of 282 (+2). It’s clear that the competition is heating up, but the Gators are holding their ground.

Looking Ahead to the Gators Invitational

The Gators Invitational is set to keep the excitement going through Sunday, March 8, 2026. The second round is just around the corner, scheduled to begin bright and early at 8:30 a.m. Saturday morning. This 3-day tournament sees the Gators competing on their home turf against a field that includes just one other team ranked in the top 25 nationally. Historically speaking, Florida has had quite the success at this event, boasting a whopping 27 wins across its history and securing victories nine times in the last ten seasons alone. They’ve also claimed both the team and individual titles in 2021 and last year’s tournament!
