High Point, N.C.: A Thrilling Week Ahead for High Point University Athletics

Are you ready, High Point? It’s shaping up to be an exhilarating week for our university athletes as several teams gear up for some intense competitions! Whether you’re a soccer superfan or a volleyball enthusiast, there’s action ahead that you won’t want to miss!

Women’s Soccer Looking to Turn the Tide

The High Point University women’s soccer team is gearing up for a busy week. On Thursday, September 4, at 6 p.m., they will travel to Greensboro, N.C., to face off against UNC Greensboro. The team is currently looking to secure their first victory of the season with a record of 0-3-2, while UNC Greensboro, who comes into this matchup with a 0-5 record, will also be vying to break free from the winless drought.

These two teams last met on September 5, 2024, where High Point clinched a narrow 1-0 win, giving them hope as they aim for another success against this rival. However, history is not entirely in their favor, as UNC Greensboro leads the all-time series with a record of 8-2-5. Fingers crossed for a strong performance!

But the excitement doesn’t stop there! On Sunday, September 7, our women’s soccer team will return home to host UNC Wilmington at the beautiful Vert Stadium in High Point, N.C. Their last encounter on September 8, 2024, ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw, leaving both teams eager to come out on top this time around. With an all-time record of 0-8-1 against UNCW, the Panthers have their work cut out for them. Let’s cheer them on!

Volleyball Team Takes the Court

High Point volleyball team is off to the Villanova Classic this weekend, kicking off with a match against Fairfield on Friday, September 5, at 4 p.m. in Villanova, Pa. High Point is coming into this match with a record of 1-2, while Fairfield stands at 2-1. In their last meeting back on August 30, 2024, High Point emerged victorious with a 3-1 win, making them hopeful for another triumph!

The team continues its busy schedule with a match against Yale on Saturday, September 6, at 7 p.m. High Point boasts a 3-1 victory over Yale from their previous encounter on September 1, 2023, giving them an all-time edge with a score of 1-0. Finally, on Sunday, September 7, our Panthers will face Villanova at 2 p.m. Villanova currently leads their series with a record of 2-1, after defeating High Point 3-2 in their last face-off on August 31, 2019. This match-up is guaranteed to keep fans on the edge of their seats!

Men’s Soccer and Golf Kick Off Exciting Seasons

This week isn’t just about women’s soccer and volleyball. The #13 High Point men’s soccer team is stepping onto the field against VCU on Friday, September 5, at 7 p.m. in Richmond, Va. They go into the match with a solid record of 2-0-1, and their previous encounter on August 31, 2024, ended in a 1-1 draw, so they are looking to break the tie in this contest. With an all-time record of 1-0-1 over VCU, they are feeling confident!

Meanwhile, men’s golf kicks off their season at the Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate starting Sunday, September 7, in vibrant Myrtle Beach, S.C. Not to be outdone, the women’s golf team heads to the Golfweek Fall Challenge in Pawleys Island, S.C., from September 7 to September 9. Both golf teams are excited to show off their skills this season!

For those who can’t attend, make sure to tune in as live broadcasts of the matches will be available through ESPN+ and YouTube, along with live stats accessible during events. Let’s show our support as our athletes take on their rivals!

What a week it’s going to be! Here’s to our teams putting up a great fight and making us proud!
