Thousands Gather for Myrtle Beach’s Largest Garage Sale

Myrtle Beach was bustling this weekend as a few light showers couldn’t keep thousands of folks from making their way to the Myrtle Beach Convention Center for the much-anticipated state’s largest garage sale. With vendors setting up their booths and customers roaming through aisles filled with treasures, it was hard not to get caught up in the excited atmosphere.

Vinyls Galore!

One of the standout booths belonged to Barry Silver, who set up shop right near the main entrance. With prime real estate, he had a fantastic collection of vinyl records on display. It was music to the ears of many attendees! Barry cheerfully explained, “I’ve got rock-and-roll, hip hop, and country too. I’ve got it all.” His booth was definitely a haven for music lovers looking to add something special to their collections.

A Treasure Trove of Unique Items

The event has evolved quite a bit from its humble beginnings as a small craft show in the basement of a parking garage. Today, it typically attracts thousands of attendees and hundreds of vendors, all eager to find their next great deal or hidden gem. From vintage clothing to handmade crafts, the variety was astounding!

Young Entrepreneur

Among the vendors was 13-year-old Colton Fowler, a student from North Myrtle Beach Middle School, proudly displaying his extensive collection of toys and board games. He mentioned, “I have a variety of different toys and board games for all ages of kids.” Colton shared that he’s been collecting these items for the past 13 years and had set a goal of making around $500 in sales. By mid-morning, it looked like he was well on his way, with locals stopping by to browse and purchase from his setup!

Finding the Perfect Gift

Not only were vendors excited, but shoppers were also making some incredible finds. Jimmy Nance and his wife were particularly thrilled after scoring a rare item for one of their friends. Jimmy exclaimed, “I found a classic “Ghost Busters” firehouse with the echo one and other accessories. It’s for my buddy who loves firehouses and will be getting this for Christmas!” Now, that’s what we call a thoughtful gift.

What’s Next?

As the day rolled on, the excitement only grew. While official attendance numbers and vendor counts are still under wraps, the city of Myrtle Beach plans to release that information shortly. With so many vendors and families coming together for a day of fun, it’s safe to say that this event continues to be a cherished tradition in the community.

Get Involved!

If you’re local and missed out this time or if you have some treasures of your own to share, don’t fret! The Myrtle Beach Convention Center will likely host this garage sale again in the future. Keep your eyes peeled for updates, and maybe consider becoming a vendor yourself at the next event!

The vibe at this year’s garage sale was a little chaotic but overwhelmingly joyful—a reminder of why we love being part of the Myrtle Beach community. Whether you’re a shopper, a seller, or someone just enjoying the sights and sounds, events like these bring us all together. Who knows what you might find next time?
