South Carolina officials are enthusiastic about the upcoming 2025 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic, a PGA Tour tournament anticipated to attract significant crowds and bring economic benefits to the area. Key political figures highlighted its potential in tourism, featuring a $4 million purse and celebrities participating in a Pro-Am event. The tournament will take place from May 8 to May 11, with free entry for children and special discounts for military personnel, all while promising a glamorous atmosphere and live coverage.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – South Carolina officials expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming 2025 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic during a press conference held at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club on May 7, 2025. The event marks the second year of the PGA Tour tournament, which is anticipated to draw significant crowds and economic benefits to the region.

Governor Henry McMaster and Lt. Governor Pamela Evette, along with state officials including S.C. Senator Luke Rankin and Myrtle Beach Mayor Brenda Bethune, highlighted the tournament’s potential to attract both fans and media exposure. Evette emphasized how the event could enhance the local economy by bringing in visitors and boosting tourism.

The purse for the 2025 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic is set at $4 million, with the winner earning $720,000, representing a lucrative prize that reflects the tournament’s growing prestige. In addition to monetary rewards, the winning golfer will earn 300 FedEx Cup points and receive a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour, as well as an invitation to the following week’s PGA Championship.

Defending champion Chris Gotterup, who took first place in the 2024 tournament, will return to compete against a field of 132 players, including other notable golfers such as Nathan Franks, Jonathan Byrd, and Alistair Docherty.

The event is scheduled to take place from May 8 to May 11, 2025. Gates will open for fans at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, and at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, with tee-off times beginning at 6:50 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 7:00 a.m. on the weekend.

Entry will require digital tickets, and children aged 15 and under can enter for free when accompanied by a paying adult. Additionally, local first responders and military personnel will receive free tickets for the practice round on Wednesday, with discounted rates for the following days. General parking will be available for $20 per day at the designated lot located at 2400 Oak St., and shuttle buses will operate to transport fans to and from the course. Access guidelines will include size restrictions on bags and prohibitions against certain items such as glass containers and laptops.

The tournament will include a Pro-Am event featuring celebrities such as actors Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell, as well as Wheel of Fortune star Vanna White, adding a touch of glamour to the proceedings. Live coverage of the event will be broadcast on the Golf Channel from May 8 to May 11, complemented by various entertainment and food options available on-site for attendees.

The Dunes Golf and Beach Club, where the event will be held, boasts greens made of Champion ultra dwarf bermudagrass, which are expected to play at a target speed of 11.5-12′ for optimal performance. This aligns with the tournament’s reputation for quality play and competitive spirit.

Economic forecasts for the 2025 ONEflight Myrtle Beach Classic suggest a notable impact on the local economy, with leaders confident in the trajectory of the event in Myrtle Beach as it establishes itself as a premier destination for professional golf.
