Myrtle Beach was recently the talk of the town as golfers from Charleston Southern University and High Point University hit the greens for the much-anticipated Myrtle Beach Golf Trips Intercollegiate. This thrilling event, held at the beautiful Grande Dunes Resort Club, showcased some spectacular talent and skill over the course of three days.
Charleston Southern Buccaneers Aiming High
The Charleston Southern Buccaneers faced tough competition throughout the tournament, finishing in 16th place overall with a team score of 903 (+39). Despite the overall score, there were certainly some highlights and standout performances for the Buccaneers.
Leading the charge was Bailey Bjornson, who had an impressive showing, tying for 28th place with an even-par score of 216. His performance was marked by rounds of 72, 69, and 75, proving that he’s truly a force to be reckoned with on the course. Following closely behind was Theodor Takman, who secured a tie for 45th place with a score of 219 (+3) after varying rounds of 77, 70, and 72.
Team members Alex North, Dewi John, and Harrison Parker also made notable contributions. North finished tied for 81st with a total score of 231 (+15), while John tallied 237 (+21) and Parker closed with 240 (+24). The Buccaneers posted their best round on day one with a team score of 298, followed by scores of 302 and 303 in the next rounds.
High Point Panthers Show Strong Resilience
Meanwhile, the High Point Panthers put forth a commendable effort, finishing 13th out of 16 teams with a total score of 879 (+4). The standout star for High Point was Carter Pitcairn, who not only finished 8th individually with an impressive score of 211 (-5) but also made history by recording his first collegiate hole-in-one on the 8th hole during the third round. This remarkable shot was from a distance of 184 yards!
Pitcairn’s third-round score of 65 (-7) tied for the second-lowest in the program’s history, truly making it a remarkable day for him and his fellow Panthers. The team’s performance was strong with Burch Harrison finishing tied for 33rd at 217 (+1), showing that the Panthers were committed and working hard throughout the tournament.
Other dedicated players included Tully Super and Shlok Jain, with scores of 225 (+9) and 229 (+13), respectively. Jay Smith also contributed to the overall team score, finishing tied for 81st with a score of 231 (+15). Notably, five of the six players from High Point managed to shoot under par, reflecting their strong teamwork and skills.
Kennesaw State Takes Top Honors
The event wasn’t without exciting moments from other competing teams as well. Kennesaw State shone brightly, finishing in first place overall with a total team score of 862 (-2). Walker Gantt from Kennesaw State also left his mark, finishing tied for 16th at 213 (-3).

For the Buccaneers, their next stop is the Carolina Cup, hosted by USC Upstate on September 28, where they will surely look to boost their scores and standings.
