Renovated golf course in Myrtle Beach with new bunkers

Myrtle Beach Golf Courses Get a Makeover

If you’ve got tee time booked in Myrtle Beach, you’re in for a treat! Several golf courses in the area are undergoing some exciting refurbishments, and guess what? They’re managing to stay open while doing it! That means you can enjoy the greens while they get a much-needed facelift.

PineHills Course at Myrtlewood Golf Club

First up, we have the PineHills Course at Myrtlewood Golf Club. They’ve completely revamped every single bunker on the course! Thanks to course architect Dan Schlegel, who previously worked his magic on the Palmetto Course, the improvement has really changed the visual aspects of the course and boosted the conditions of the bunkers. These aren’t just any old renovations either; they employed a Capillary concrete system that will dramatically help with drainage.

Speaking to Steve Mays, president of Founders Group International, he said, “I’m excited from a playability standpoint, because that’s the one thing that course was really missing.” And if you’re curious about specifics, they’ve even redesigned the 16th hole. “There will be a much more intimidating tee shot from the look of it because you’ll have a bunker that now sits in the center of the fairway,” Mays added. In short? Get ready for a whole new vibe when you play at PineHills!

Tidewater Golf Club

Next on the roster is the Tidewater Golf Club. As the new management came in, they quickly identified that the bunkers needed a serious upgrade. After more than 30 years of wear and tear, the GM, Chris Cooper, stated, “Our focus was to give the course a facelift.” The bunker renovations will kick-off mid-November and will run until mid-February, all while keeping the course playable for guests. How’s that for convenience?

What’s more, they plan to remove around a third of the course’s bunkers. Cooper mentioned, “A lot of the bunkers originally out here were just placed in areas that really weren’t in play.” The result? A course that flows better and is much more approachable for both newbies and seasoned golfers alike!

Brunswick Plantation

Brunswick Plantation, another gem in the Myrtle Beach area, has also spruced things up. This winter saw improvements to the clubhouse and the course. The Champions Grill underwent some positive changes to become a lively social hub, merging the best elements from a closed bar and restaurant into one bustling spot. Talk about efficiency!

Plus, they’re not skimping on the course either. They completed a bunker renovation project recently, getting rid of up to 15% of old bunkers and enhancing the remaining ones for better playability. Director of Golf Brett Thomaswick remarked, “We just got rid of them.” Simple as that! Who doesn’t love a good upgrade?

Prestwick Country Club

Why stop there? Prestwick Country Club is also in on the action. The front nine had a little closure to rebuild bulkheaded sea walls, but don’t worry, they offered discounted rates for back-nine rounds. Retaining walls were rebuilt and even some added bunkers to enhance the challenge. Plus, the clubhouse received some shiny new floors and furniture. Pretty snazzy, right?

Legends Resort

Finally, Legends Golf Group is busy repairing cart paths across their courses. With fantastic options like Heritage Club and three courses at Legends Resort, it’s all about mobility and ease of play here!

Conclusion

So, what’s the takeaway here? With all these exciting renovations taking place across Myrtle Beach, golfers can expect fresh experiences on the links. Whether you’re hitting the PineHills, Tidewater, or any of the other revamped courses, be prepared for a delightful upgrade next time you swing by!
