Myrtle Beach Honors Fallen Officers with New Police Car Stickers at Ceremony

A Tribute to Fallen Heroes

The city of Myrtle Beach paid a touching tribute to fallen officers by unveiling new police car stickers at a ceremony held at the Myrtle Beach Police Department Memorial Fountain on Friday, May 17. Community members and city staff joined together to honor their surviving and fallen heroes during the National Police Week event.

Honoring Valor and Sacrifice

The service was held at the Ted Collin’s Law Enforcement Center, where the families of slain Myrtle Beach police officers were seated in the front row, bearing witness to an emotional display of respect and honor. Chief Amy Prock gave a heartfelt speech about the call to duty, the courage it demands, and the sacrifice it entails.

Unveiling of the Commemorative Stickers

The high point of the ceremony was the unveiling of the new police car stickers, each emblazoned with the names of Myrtle Beach’s fallen heroes. Their names are Officer Henry Scarborough (EOW 03/07/49), Officer Joseph McGarry (EOW 12/29/02), and Officer Jacob Hancher (EOW 10/03/20). The stickers aim to commemorate these officers and inspire an appreciation for their ultimate sacrifice by making their memories a visible part of the community.

A Testament to Heroism

The police car stickers serve as a constant reminder of the valor and sacrifice of the officers who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Each sticker, a portable memorial, is a testament that their brave acts will not be forgotten but will continue to resonate within the heart of Myrtle Beach.

This event is part of Myrtle Beach’s broader efforts to support its police force, honor their dedication, and remember officers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their community.

A Community United in Remembrance

The gathering at the Memorial Fountain goes beyond mere symbolism; it reflects the solidarity of Myrtle Beach’s residents and their enduring respect for the selfless dedication exhibited by their local law enforcement. The event was a gathering of hearts, a shared moment of grief, reflection, and profound gratitude among city staff, the police department, and community members.

The annual ceremony is a poignant reminder to all residents of the valor and sacrifice that the police force exemplifies, serving as a clarion call for unity, respect, and mutual support within the community

The unveiling of the police car stickers not only commemorates the fallen but also serves as a potent symbol of perseverance, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to public service.

Toward a Safe and United Myrtle Beach

The city of Myrtle Beach is committed to safeguarding its residents and fostering a strong relationship with its police officers. Beyond the stickers and the solemn ceremonies, the heart of Myrtle Beach continues to beat with respect, gratitude, and deep admiration for its local law enforcement officers—those who have served, those who continue to serve, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for the community they loved.

While the city of Myrtle Beach mourns the loss of its fallen officers, it also celebrates their dedication and service, keeping their memory alive through respectful tributes and heartfelt acknowledgments. These fallen officers are honored as heroes, their lives and service forever engraved in the heart of Myrtle Beach.
