Gunfire Exchange on the Streets of Myrtle Beach
A shooting outside a well-known bar in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, escalated when security personnel stationed at the venue decided to return fire, according to law enforcement reports.
The incident in question occurred shortly past midnight earlier this week, illuminating the quiet streets with the violent flashes of gunfire. The lively nightlife hotspot of Lolli’s on 3rd on the 1200 block of Third Avenue South was the site of this aggressive and dangerous incident.
An officer from the Myrtle Beach Police Dept. was dispatched to the scene upon the report of gunfire. On arrival, they discovered evidence of the tumultuous event in the form of spent shell casings.
Security Officers Involved in the Incident
The shell casings, as the officer’s report states, belonged to the security guards who had engaged in an impromptu firefight, returning verdant retaliation after first being targeted. These officers, contracted to maintain safety and peace at Lolli’s on 3rd, found themselves instead in the line of fire during the course of their duty.
Victim of the Shooting Speaks out
Upon the officer’s arrival, the victim of the shooting gave his firsthand account of the shocking incident. The victim revealed he had been involved in a brawl earlier in the evening outside the bar. However, he had vacated the location before the police arrived.
According to the victim’s account, he was near the entrance to the bar when a car pulled up and an assailant inside began to shoot in his direction. Acting swiftly, he dropped to the ground, in an attempt to evade the flying bullets.
The victim suffered injuries during the incident, including a damaging fall that bruised his elbow and a cut inside his mouth, an injury sustained during the earlier fight. Following an on-site evaluation by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS), his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening. The EMS also attended to additional potential trauma victims on site.
Investigation Continues
The Myrtle Beach Police Department is vigorously pursuing the investigation into the gunfire incident, with additional details yet to be released. The police have not revealed the identity of the perpetrator(s) or the motive behind the shooting.
The release of further information about this case is anticipated. The residents of Myrtle Beach, especially those in the vicinity of the 1200 block of Third Avenue South, anxiously await more updates.
