Myrtle Beach and Ocean Isle Beach Set to Get Exciting New Mini Golf Courses

It’s an exciting time for families and golf enthusiasts alike in Myrtle Beach and neighboring Ocean Isle Beach! Get ready for some fun in the sun as two brand new mini golf courses are on the way, each promising to bring their own unique flair and adventure.

Ahoy Mateys – Red Dragon Cove Adventure Golf Coming Soon!

First up is the Red Dragon Cove Adventure Golf, which is scheduled to make a splash by July 2025, potentially aligning its grand opening with the fireworks of July 4th! This picturesque mini golf course will be located at 2001 S. Kings Highway in Myrtle Beach. Imagine having a full day of fun while strolling through a pirate-themed paradise, inspired by the fearless pirate queen, Zheng Yi Sao, who ruled the seas around China in the early 19th century.

As you enter, you’ll be greeted by a massive junk ship, a nod to the Asian cultural inspiration behind the course. Designed by the dynamic trio of Christine and Jason Rapanos along with their partner Brandon Kaufman, this course promises to deliver not just golf but an entire adventure.

A Unique Experience Awaits!

Guests will delight in a clubhouse designed to resemble a temple, complete with guarding cannons and impressive elephant statues. Players will have their pick of one of two enchanting 18-hole courses that wind around a grand central mountain. Among the breathtaking features, you can expect installations of a Chinese Dragon and an Indonesian sculpture of Buddha aimed at creating a serene and Zen-like atmosphere.

Don’t stress if you get a little hot under the collar – an ice cream machine will be stationed in the clubhouse to keep your spirits high! The Rapanos family hopes to bring smiles to the community by creating job opportunities, planning to hire around 10 workers to help run the operation.

Revamp Alert – Snake River Golf and Gem Mining Set to Reopen!

Snake River Golf and Gem Mining located at 4827 S. Kings Highway is under renovation, with plans to reopen by May 15, 2025. After being closed for four years, property manager Mark Whitesell is spearheading this refurbishment, aiming to breathe new life into the space.

The renovations will include redoing all the holes, repainting, and adding new greens to enhance your golfing experience. But it doesn’t stop there! This revamped attraction will also feature gem mining as a secondary attraction, where guests can sift through a trough of running water for precious gems. Indoor options for gem mining will be available, perfect for those rainy days.

Ocean Isle Beach’s New Shipwreck-Themed Mini Golf Course Proposal

Ocean Isle Beach has its sights set on an adventurous new addition as well. A new 18-hole shipwreck-themed mini golf facility has been proposed near Town Hall at 110 Causeway Drive. The project plans to feature a clubhouse, a waterfall, and a striking large wrecked ship, alongside 50 parking spaces for convenience.

There’s even room for future expansion! The proposal hints at the potential for adding another 18 holes, contingent upon board approval. However, some town commissioners have voiced concerns regarding increased traffic, aesthetics, and the fear of Ocean Isle Beach becoming a tourist hotspot like its bustling neighbor, Myrtle Beach.

The Ocean Isle Beach Board of Commissioners has taken a cautious approach, tabling approval of the project twice as they seek more information and potential restrictions before making a decision in April 2025.

Looking Ahead

With these upcoming attractions, residents and visitors can look forward to enhancing their recreational options this side of the coast. Whether you’re a fan of mini-strokes or just on the hunt for a fun day out, Myrtle Beach and Ocean Isle Beach are gearing up for some stunning developments. Mark your calendars and get ready for adventure!
