News Summary

Horry County welcomes two new retail destinations just in time for the holiday season. Bricks & Minifigs offers an interactive Lego experience, while Our Next Chapter Bookstore creates a cozy haven for book lovers. Both openings reflect the owners’ passions and community support, making these spots perfect for festive shopping and enjoyment.

Exciting New Retail Openings Just in Time for the Holiday Season in Horry County!

New Lego Wonderland at Bricks & Minifigs

Horry County is buzzing with excitement as not one, but two brand-new retail stores have opened just before Christmas! First up is Bricks & Minifigs, a delightful shop located at the Tanger Outlets on Highway 501, which brings the magic of Lego to life. This isn’t just any ordinary store; it’s a kid-friendly paradise filled with everything Lego-related. Think colorful displays, a make-your-own mini-figure section, and an exhilarating Lego build wall where creativity knows no bounds.

The store is designed to be interactive so that visitors of all ages can explore and enjoy the many unique items on offer. The owner, Jonathan Young, has a simple hope for his customers — to feel a sense of happiness and joy while discovering the endless possibilities within the world of Lego. Interestingly, Jonathan has found that at least half of his repeat customers are indeed adults! Yes, you heard that right! They’re purchasing Legos not just for their kids, but for themselves! After all, who says you have to grow out of your love for building bricks?

A Cozy New Spot for Book Lovers

But wait, there’s more! The second exciting venture to open is Our Next Chapter Bookstore in Conway, South Carolina. Owned by the hardworking husband-and-wife duo, Bob and Lisa Martire, this cozy bookstore is a reflection of their personal interests and passions. With a deep love for building Lego sets and assembling 3D puzzles, the couple has created a space that invites book lovers to unwind and indulge in their favorite pastimes.

In a thoughtful touch, Bob and Lisa have filled the store with personal items from their home, aiming to create a comfortable and welcoming ambiance for customers. It’s like stepping into a friend’s cozy living room, where books are waiting to be devoured. After moving to Conway, the couple decided to chase their long-standing dream of opening a business, and that’s exactly what they’re doing!

Overcoming Challenges with Inspiration

However, this journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Earlier this year, Bob Martire faced a tough time when he broke his wrist in a car accident. As a result, he made the tough decision to leave his 28-year career as a dentist. In the aftermath, Bob struggled with feelings of depression but found new inspiration in the idea of pursuing a bookstore. Sometimes, the challenges we face in life can guide us to our true passions, and that’s precisely what happened with Bob and Lisa.

They received helpful support from the local organization Conway Downtown Alive, which played a vital role in their journey to open the bookstore. Their daughter, Michelle, also joined in on the fun, providing book recommendations to ensure an amazing selection for the store. Adapting to this new direction, the couple transformed their previous clothing store into a welcoming haven for readers, and the grand opening for Our Next Chapter is set for this Friday!

Mark Your Calendars for Grand Opening Festivities

Curious about the schedule? We’ve got you covered! Our Next Chapter Bookstore will be open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. As part of their opening festivities, they will host a storytime reading event this Saturday at 11 a.m., a perfect way to celebrate the joy of reading with the community.

So, whether you’re a die-hard Lego fan or a lover of all things literary, Horry County is the place to be this holiday season! Both Bricks & Minifigs and Our Next Chapter Bookstore offer something special for everyone, making these new destinations must-visit spots as we dive into the festive season.
