North Myrtle Beach Serves Up Fun at Third Annual Pickleball with the Stars

What a fantastic morning in North Myrtle Beach this past Saturday! The sun was shining bright, perfect for the third annual Pickleball with the Stars event, where the community came together to enjoy some friendly competition and support a great cause.

A Star-Studded Event

Local celebrities teamed up with professional pickleball players, bringing together fans and fun in a unique way. Among the familiar faces on the court was our very own Ed Piotrowski, who traded in his weather anchor hat for a pickleball paddle! It was a sight to see as fans gathered to watch their favorite personalities take on the challenge.

Community Spirit at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center

The atmosphere at the J. Bryan Floyd Community Center was electric. People from all around the area came out to cheer on the competitors. Families, friends, and pickleball enthusiasts filled the stands, making it feel more like a celebration than just a sporting event. Kids were eager to grab autographs from the celebrities, and the cheers from the crowd could be heard echoing around the center!

Why Pickleball?

For those who might not know, pickleball is quickly becoming one of the most popular sports in the U.S. It’s a fun and accessible game that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. The smooth rules make it easy to learn, and it’s suitable for all ages. Plus, it’s a great way to stay active while having a blast! Everyone was in high spirits, and you could see all ages on the court, laughing and enjoying the game.

Making a Difference

One of the best parts of this event was its mission. Proceeds from this year’s Pickleball with the Stars will go towards **funding new outdoor pickleball courts in North Myrtle Beach**. Isn’t that great? More courts mean more opportunities for everyone to join in on the fun! It’s about building a community where everyone can play, compete, and grow together.

Looking Back and Moving Forward

It’s also worth noting that this weekend marks the 35th anniversary of Hurricane Hugo. As we enjoyed the lively atmosphere at the event, it was a moment of reflection for many residents. The resilience shown by our community reminds us of the strength we bring to one another. Events like this not only uplift spirits but also serve to reinforce our bonds during significant anniversaries.

Join the Fun!

If you missed this year’s Pickleball with the Stars, don’t worry! The beauty of pickleball is that you can get involved anytime. Keep an eye out for local tournaments and games happening at the community centers. With the new courts on the way, there’s no better time to pick up a paddle and join the fun!

Community Connection

Events like Pickleball with the Stars are what make North Myrtle Beach such a special place to live. They bring people together, promote healthy lifestyles, and raise funds for important community projects. So, whether you’re an experienced player or a curious onlooker, there’s surely something for everyone.

All in all, it was a truly delightful morning filled with laughter, competition, and community support. Can’t wait for next year’s event – who knows what stars will shine on the court then!
