The Outpost is set to take over the former site of Waccamaw Outfitters at Conway Marina, offering food, recreational activities, and entertainment starting March 1. Developed by local entrepreneurs, it will feature a diverse menu, kayak rentals, and live music, enhancing the marina’s appeal. With a focus on community engagement and expansion, The Outpost aims to provide a vibrant social scene and improve local infrastructure.

Conway

The Outpost is set to open at Conway Marina, taking over the former site of Waccamaw Outfitters, which ceased operations earlier this year. The new establishment, developed by local entrepreneurs Tommy Guido and Eric and Shannon Jordan, plans to deliver an array of recreational and dining experiences from March 1, 2025.

According to their social media announcement, The Outpost will offer food, music, drinks, and fun, featuring a diverse menu that includes paninis, flatbreads, sub sandwiches, hot dogs, and peel-and-eat shrimp. A full bar will be available for guests, ensuring a variety of beverage options to complement the food offerings.

The Outpost is poised to enrich the visitor experience at Conway Marina by providing recreational activities such as kayak, canoe, and paddle board rentals. In addition, fishing supplies including bait, lures, and snacks will be available for purchase, catering to both recreational fishers and casual visitors alike. The marina is also set to introduce a narrated pontoon boat tour along the scenic Waccamaw River, further enhancing the array of activities for boating enthusiasts.

The establishment will feature a restaurant and tiki bar with seating for 40 guests, creating a welcoming atmosphere for patrons to enjoy live entertainment. The venue will host live music, DJs, and recorded sound, attracting local talent and offering a vibrant social scene.

The marina, which has seen significant developments under new management, aims to expand its services beyond food and music. The facility will provide essential fuel services and marine supplies, as well as manage overnight dock fees for transient boaters. To support its operations, The Outpost has secured a 10-year lease with the City of Conway, ensuring long-term service and stability in the area.

Initially, operations at the marina began on March 1, and the management team anticipates reaching full capacity by late June in time for the annual Riverfest celebration. Currently, four employees are running the marina, but plans are in motion to hire an additional six to eight staff members for the restaurant. Food trucks are also expected to operate in adjacent lots, providing further dining options for visitors.

The Conway Marina is undergoing enhancements to improve its infrastructure, including the installation of new fuel pumps, repainting facilities, upgrading railings, and paving additional areas. These upgrades aim to elevate the overall guest experience and facilitate smooth operations.

The Outpost’s offerings will not include jet skis or pontoon boats, focusing instead on safety with its rental items. However, future expansion could see the addition of electric bicycle rentals once a nearby bike path is completed, further promoting outdoor activities among visitors.

The current operating hours for the marina are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays, with seasonal adjustments planned to accommodate varying visitor patterns.

The Conway community anticipates the arrival of The Outpost, looking forward to the combination of food, activities, and entertainment it promises to deliver.
