South Carolina’s Recruiting Update: A Look Back

Last week’s events in South Carolina’s recruiting world

A flurry of recruiting activities have taken place in South Carolina within the last week. If you missed anything, this is the article to review everything that has happened.

Last Friday, the Gamecocks hosted another round of the Shane Beamer Football Camp session. Following the session, there was a cookout—a fantastic opportunity for recruits, coaches, and current players to interact in a relaxed setting. To get a glimpse of who made the guest list, browse through the camp recap and the cookout guest list.

Offers extended to potential recruits

During Friday’s camp, South Carolina extended offers to several prospects. These seasoned and promising athletes included:

  • 2026 S Kentavion Anderson (Roanoke, S.C.)
  • 2026 CB Cameron Hairston-Taylor (Roanoke, Va.)
  • 2027 QB Trae Taylor (Mundelein, Ill.)
  • 2027 QB Mason Holtzclaw (Belton, S.C.)
  • 2027 WR Aden Starling (Alvin, Tex.)

Conversations with cookout guests

Following the cookout, interviews were conducted with some attendees, including 2026 S Tamarion Watkins from Rock Hill, S.C., and 2026 OT Gabriel Osenda from Chattanooga, Tenn.

Recruitment offers before the cookout

Even before the cookout and camp, South Carolina was already making waves in the recruitment scene. The Gamecocks extended an offer to 2025 four-star tight end Mikkel Skinner, a student at Riverside High School in Greer, S.C. Although Skinner couldn’t attend the cookout, plans are being made for a visit soon.

Spotlight on June 2025’s commitments

Throughout June, several 2025 commitments pledged to join the Gamecocks. One such commitment is from three-star quarterback Cutter Woods, who had formerly committed to Wake Forest. Other key commitments include TE Preston Douglas, DE Kobby Sakyi-Prah, WR Brian Rowe, DE Jaquavious Dodd, and S Christopher Hatfield.
