Grand Strand Welcomes Back U.S. Kids Golf With a Fresh Local Tour

Exciting news is coming straight from the sunny shores of Grand Strand. After a long break of more than a decade, U.S. Kids Golf is making its triumphant return to the area with a brand-new local tour! This initiative is under the enthusiastic guidance of a well-known figure in the local golfing scene, Ed LaPierre, who’s been appointed as the Myrtle Beach tour director.

The Return of a Familiar Name

For those who may not know, U.S. Kids Golf has been a staple in youth golf for approximately 30 years. Although regional events have been happening in the Grande Strand area since the local tour folded around 2013, the excitement of a dedicated tour for young golfers has been long awaited. Ed LaPierre, who previously served as the executive director for The First Tee of the Coastal Carolinas, was inspired to reignite the local tour after chats with a friend from U.S. Kids Golf.

What’s in Store?

Mark your calendars! The tour is set to host 18 thrilling events spread across summer, fall, and spring, with six events scheduled for each season. These one-day tournaments are designed for children aged between 5 to 18 years, ensuring that lovers of the sport have a platform to showcase their skills. Younger kids, specifically those aged 5-11, will enjoy playing nine-hole rounds, while the older juniors can challenge themselves with the full 18 holes!

Wondering when you can hit the greens? Events will typically take place on Sundays, kicking off at 2 p.m. The first event is slated for June 22 at the picturesque Myrtlewood PineHills Course. It’s a fantastic chance for young golfers to gain experience and enjoy some fun competition!

Membership and Accessibility

Signing up for the tour is wallet-friendly, with a membership fee of approximately $40. If you want to participate in an event, you can get in for about $49. For those families who may need financial assistance, scholarships are readily available, ensuring that every budding golfer has the chance to shine.

But that’s not all—by joining the tour, members will receive a $25 coupon valid for purchases at uskidsgolf.com, making this deal even sweeter! LaPierre has pointed out that the area has been lacking a dedicated 18-hole tour for older juniors, emphasizing how vital this tour will be for enhancing their golfing journey.

Future Plans and Thrilling Venues

Looking ahead, plans are already underway to kick off a new developmental division for younger golfers aged 3 to 5 for the fall. This initiative hopes to further engage early learners and nurture their passion for the game right from the start. Various local golf venues will also host different summer events, with exciting locations such as Arcadian Shores Golf Club, Beachwood Golf Club, Myrtle Beach National, Wachesaw East Golf Club, and Wild Wing’s Avocet Course on the roster.

And don’t miss the summer tour championship at the stunning Wild Wing’s Avocet Course on August 3. It’s bound to be an unforgettable event showcasing the talent and hard work of all the young participants!

A Community Effort

There’s a palpable buzz of excitement surrounding this tour as it garners support from the local golfing community. The opportunity for local kids to engage in organized competitions is sure to foster not just skill but teamwork, friendships, and unforgettable memories.

For any young golfers eager to be part of this new journey, reach out for more information. Interested players can contact Ed LaPierre via email or phone, making it easy to jump in and join the fun!

So, whether your kids are seasoned players or just starting, it’s the perfect time to get involved in this fantastic new venture in the Grand Strand. Keep those clubs ready and get ready for a summer of joy, competition, and lots of golf!
