A sequel to the romantic comedy How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is currently in early development, with original star Kate Hudson, 47, set to produce. The announcement, made 21 hours ago, comes more than two decades after the original film’s release. Sources indicate that both Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, 56, who starred in the 2003 hit, may reprise their roles.
The original movie featured Hudson as Andie, a magazine journalist tasked with writing an article about modern dating by making a man leave her in 10 days. McConaughey played Benjamin, an advertising executive who bets his boss he can make any woman fall for him, with Andie becoming his target. The film achieved significant box office success, grossing nearly $180 million worldwide.
Hudson will produce the upcoming sequel alongside Stacey Sher, known for her work on films such as Pulp Fiction and Matilda. The yellow silk Carolina Herrera dress worn by Hudson in the original film became a notable piece of modern cinema fashion.
Hudson’s most recent film appearance was in 2025’s Song Sung Blue, which earned her a second Oscar nomination. Her first nomination was for Almost Famous in 2001.
