Myrtle Beach, S.C. — Conway High School was placed on lockdown for about 20 minutes Friday morning after a bomb threat that city police later determined was an electronically generated hoax, officials said.
Horry County dispatch received a report of a bomb threat involving Conway High School at 9:27 a.m. Conway police responded, cleared the campus and said there was no indication of a threat to students or staff.
Horry County Schools said all students and staff were safe. District officials said the Friday call was identical to a computer-generated hoax reported Wednesday at North Myrtle Beach High School.
That earlier incident also put North Myrtle Beach High under a hold while officers checked the campus and then cleared the scene. Separate lockdowns Wednesday at North Myrtle Beach Middle School and Waterway Elementary were unrelated and tied to a nearby suspect search, schools said.
Conway police said they are investigating and coordinating with other agencies that have seen similar school threats. The Friday case remains under investigation.
