MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Indigo Girls canceled their Saturday night concert at The Carolina Opry Theater in Myrtle Beach after their longtime tour bus driver was killed in a highway crash in Richland County, South Carolina.
The folk-rock duo of Amy Ray and Emily Saliers said no band members or crew were aboard the motor coach at the time of the collision.
South Carolina Highway Patrol reported the crash occurred at about 6 a.m. Friday in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 20 near the Fairfield Road exit. The band’s 2007 Prevost motor coach struck a disabled 2021 Freightliner tractor-trailer that had broken down in the roadway, and no one was inside the disabled truck at the time of impact.
The Myrtle Beach date was set to kick off the October leg of the band’s 2026 tour, with Linda Perry scheduled as the special guest opener at the venue.
The duo canceled their Saturday show in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and postponed Sunday’s performance in Wilmington, North Carolina, with decisions on additional tour dates still to come. The group said the tour will resume as soon as they are ready and able. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
