MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Anyone who drops off a bag of wrapped candy at a Myrtle Beach recreation center this week can work off a few of those treats later, because the city is handing donors a free fitness class in exchange.
The sweets will stock two upcoming city community events, Fall Fling and Boo Bash. To qualify for the free class, a donation has to be at least one 12-ounce bag, and every piece inside must be individually wrapped.

The drive ends Thursday, Oct. 23. Donors can bring bags to the Crabtree Memorial Gym or to one of three recreation centers: Mary C. Canty near Canal Street, Pepper Geddings near North Oak Street, or General Robert H. Reed near Gabreski Lane.
Donors can use the class they earn at whichever city rec center they choose.
