MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Rosters are locked for the Touchstone Energy Cooperatives Bowl, the statewide senior all-star football game that returns to Myrtle Beach on Dec. 12.
Fresh lists name 88 graduating seniors from 69 programs for the North-South showcase. Kickoff is midday Saturday, Dec. 12, at the Doug Shaw venue on the Grand Strand. Electric co-ops have underwritten the matchup since 2013, and Mr. Football will be unveiled at the break after finalists drop on Oct. 30.
Grand Strand and Pee Dee names pepper the South roster. Myrtle Beach receiver JJ Brown is listed among South pass-catchers, while Carolina Forest contributed offensive lineman Michael Ries and defensive lineman George Handley. Loris running back Makel Stephens also made the South backfield group.
South linebackers include Summerville, Wando and Hilton Head Island selections, and the South quarterback trio spans Berkeley, Oceanside Collegiate and Camden. North picks lean Upstate and Midlands, with Ridge View, Fountain Inn, Dutch Fork, Dorman, Byrnes and Greenville among the programs represented.
The Touchstone game is one of two major senior all-star dates on the South Carolina calendar; Shrine Bowl selections were already public. For Grand Strand fans, December brings both a hometown venue and several familiar jerseys onto the all-star stage.
