MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — Myrtle Beach High School gets to start its girls volleyball postseason on its home floor when the state playoffs open Wednesday, Oct. 21.
Seeded eighth in the Class 4A Lower State, Myrtle Beach takes on ninth-seeded Hilton Head Island in round one. A victory sets up a trip to Lucy Beckham, the top seed in that half of the bracket.
Neighbor North Myrtle Beach earned the No. 2 seed and a first-round bye. It will face whoever comes out of the matchup between seventh-seeded Lugoff-Elgin and No. 10 North Augusta.
Two Grand Strand boys teams start a day earlier, on Oct. 20, and both go on the road. North Myrtle Beach, seeded 11th, plays at No. 6 May River, and 12th-seeded Conway visits No. 5 Hanahan.
Every girls state final this year will be played at Dreher High School in Columbia on Nov. 5 and 7.
