MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — A longtime putt-putt course on North Ocean Boulevard is lined up to become a restaurant, under plans the owner put before the Myrtle Beach Planning Commission on Oct. 20.

Steve Ghidella wants to replace Lost Mine Miniature Golf at 2601 N. Ocean Blvd. with a restaurant and bar. The design calls for a building of as much as 6,000 square feet with porches on two sides. No name or menu has been chosen yet, and a representative for the project asked for up to three years to complete it.

Golfers have some time left. Ghidella plans to keep the gold rush-themed course open for another season before it closes, and he expects the restaurant to be built sometime in 2028.

Ghidella, who also owns the Dead Dog Saloon in Murrells Inlet and RipTydz along with other Grand Strand properties, bought the building next door that housed the Magnolia’s at 26th buffet, which shut its doors on Sept. 9.

That building will sit empty for now. A 400-unit Drury Inn is going up across the street at 2608 N. Ocean Blvd. on the site of the old Sea Dip Inn, and Ghidella has said he will wait for the hotel to be finished before deciding what comes next there.
