Myrtle Beach’s Legends Golf Resort announced on September 3, 2026, that its new par 3 course, The Piper, will officially open for play on October 2, 2026. Designed by Ken Baker, the course is named after the wandering musicians of Scottish folklore.
The announcement coincides with the Myrtle Beach World Amateur, a major golf tournament currently hosting over 3,000 players from around the globe in Myrtle Beach.
The Piper spans an intimate 12-acre area, featuring holes ranging from 54 to 120 yards. The design emphasizes fun, connection, and camaraderie, with play structured in three-hole loops. The course will include food and drink stops, along with lights and a music-driven social atmosphere, a unique offering along the Grand Strand.
Larry Woodberry, director of operations for Legends Golf Resort, stated that the course has come to life over the past year and aligns with the experience the resort aimed to create for guests and the local community. He expressed excitement about inviting the community to be among the first to play The Piper this fall, especially as many players explore golf in Myrtle Beach this week.
Construction on The Piper is nearing completion within the resort’s 30-acre practice facility, located near the resort’s lighted grass range, a 50,000-square-foot putting green, and a short game area.
From October 2 through the end of 2026, Legends Golf Resort will offer limited play on the new course, open to both resort guests and the public. Further details regarding tee time bookings, opening day availability, and evening programming for The Piper are expected in the coming weeks. Additional amenities and experiences for The Piper will be unveiled before the 2027 golf season.
The opening of The Piper marks the initial phase of a multi-phase strategy to enhance the golf and entertainment experience at Legends Golf Resort, a signature asset in Myrtle Beach’s golf industry infrastructure.
