Myrtle Beach Prepares for Juneteenth Parade

The community of Myrtle Beach is eagerly gearing up for an illustrious parade in observance of Juneteenth, which is a recognition of the emancipation of enslaved individuals in the United States. Though the actual historical day falls on June 19, to honor it, the parade is planned on June 15 and it sets off at 10:00 a.m.

Route of the Parade

The yearly event of the Juneteenth Parade is managed by the Neighborhood Services Department. The route of the parade commences from the Myrtle Beach City Services Building that is located on 921 North Oak Street and it culminates at Carver Street and 18th Avenue North. The lies of travel for the parade will incorporate several streets which include, North Oak Street, Mr. Joe White Avenue, Carver Street, and 18th Avenue North. The assembling for the parade is planned to start at 8:30 a.m. and it officially takes off at 10:00 a.m. A part of Carver Street, specifically from the stretch between 18th Avenue North and 1420 Carver Street at Charlie’s Place, will be temporarily closed for facilitating the event.

Celebrations Post-Parade

Once the parade successfully concludes, there will be a lively celebration at Charlie’s Place. The festivities will be hosted by “The Clean Comedian, Nikitta B”. In addition to that, the celebrations will also comprise of an Afrocentic fashion exhibition, various food and craft stalls, and many performances from community members. Adding more ardor to these celebrations, live performances are planned by the Live in the Flesh Band, Don Colton, the Myrtle Beach Middle School Dance Team, the Golden Fury Drumline and Socastee High School.

Through the planned Juneteenth parade, Myrtle Beach provides a distinctive platform for the entire community to come together and acknowledge this notable historical moment in the history of America. The planned diversities of activities and performances indicate that the day is set to be significant and enjoyable, fostering unity within the community of Myrtle Beach.
