NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — North Myrtle Beach High School football drew others-receiving-votes mentions in Class 4A of the South Carolina Prep Football Media Poll released Tuesday, Oct. 13, keeping a Grand Strand program on the statewide ballot even outside the top 10.

The same release left Class 5A extremely tight, with Dutch Fork at No. 1 on 10 first-place votes and Northwestern three points behind on eight first-place votes. James Island moved to No. 3 and Boiling Springs climbed to No. 8 after beating Rock Hill.

High School On SI Top 25 notes from the prior week included South Pointes 36-24 win over then-No. 18 Carolina Forest, underscoring how Horry Countys largest enrollment schools remain part of the statewide conversation even when they sit outside the media-poll top 10.

Tourism is the dominant economic engine of Myrtle Beach and the broader Grand Strand, drawing more than 20 million visitors annually, and Friday night football remains one of the year-round community anchors beside the beach economy.

Westside stayed No. 1 in Class 4A with 13 first-place votes and Gaffney No. 2. Lancaster, Dreher and Greenville also appeared on the Class 4A others-receiving-votes line alongside North Myrtle Beach.

With three weeks of the regular season remaining on the SI statewide snapshot, Grand Strand coaches are playing for region seeding as much as for poll movement in the final stretch.
